Guide for Unlocking using Next Sim * Update 1: (Wed, 26 Dec 07, 07:30 PST) Even if you are a newcomer, don't worry, just follow this step by step. First of all, please make sure your iPhone is OOB
1.1.2 and is brought from US. Some keywords for newcomers: Step 1 : Download Necessary Files & prepare Next Sim First download these files into your harddisk, you need these files only in this Guide. 1.1.2 Jailbreak Unzip the 1.1.2 Jailbreak file as we will need this in next step. Download iTunes and install it now if you don't have it installed in your computer yet, version not matter as long as it is 7.4 or above. We will need this in next step. iTunes 7.4.2 for Mac Second : Ready your Next Sim with your own sim card Step 2 : Downgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 Plug your USB into your computer and connect with your iPhone, iTunes will automatically start up and give you an ACTIVATION page
Now press both the MENU button and the POWER button at the same time and keep pressing them until iTunes tells you that it has detected that your iPhone is in Recovery Mode, this could take something from 10 seconds to 20 seconds. You will go through the power off slide screen and complete dark screen. Don't border of it, just keep pressing both buttons until you get this message:
When the message appear in iTunes, you can release both buttons. Then dismiss the warning message in iTtunes (which iTunes has
detected .....) by pressing OK and now you have 2 options: 1. Search for Updates 2. Restore (we will choose this option, but see below first)
you need to press SHIFT button in your
keyboard (OPTIONS button in MAC) and HOLD it, then click the RESTORE button Now a "Browse your files" window will open up:
go and choose the firmware 1.1.1 file that you have just downloaded in Step 1 and press open.
Now iTunes will start downgrading your iPhone (this takes around 5 mins) and the downgrade process will end up with an error message 1013 or 1015 as below:
THIS IS VERY NORMAL in this process, and your iPhone downgraded to 1.1.1. iPhone will restart again and but it will still
remain in Recovery mode, and we need to kick it out from Recovery Mode
by doing the following. In your unzipped 1.1.2 Jailbreak directory, RUN the below program: - Window user : double click the "window.bat"
file The following screen will bring up:
click the option of "Boot from Recovery" .
Now you iPhone will restart and you will have an Activation Page on your iPhone with the nice round World image. Step 3 : Activate and Jailbreak 1. Make sure the orginal AT&T Sim card is still inside your iPhone,
it will be there if you haven't taken out before. * Update 1: (Wed, 26 Dec 07, 07:30 PST) Now, power on the iPhone, and now you are on the activation screen that says slide to make an emergency call, slide to get to the keypad and then do the following: Dial *#307#
and hit call
The iPhone will now start to ring itself, once it start to ring you have to erase *#307# by using the backslash button on your iPhone and then type 0 and then CALL, the iPhone will ring again and this time hit "Answer" then hit "Hold", the Phone will start to ring itself again, this time click "Decline". (if you fail or the sequence wrong, simply power off iPhone completely and power on again to do it again). Now on the screen you should be able to get to the Contacts menu.
Down the bottom, tap "Contacts"
then add a contact. Use the following instructions: Add the Name "Spider-Foot" and tap save, (actually any name is OK). Then tap "Add new URL" and type "prefs://1F" then tap save
Tap "Add new URL" again and type "http://jailbreakme.com" then tap save
When this is done, tap "Save" again and it will take you to the contact page displaying the name "Spider-Foot" and the two URLs you just added.
Now tap the "prefs://1F" URL and it will open the iPhone Settings page.
Tap "General" and Then "Auto-Lock", set it to "Never".
Go back to the settings page From here, tap WiFi and Add your own WiFi network and make sure you are connected to it. Now, press the Menu button to go back to the Activation Screen, slide and dial the number 0 and then CALL, the iPhone will now ring itself again, tap answer, then hold, then Decline just like before. Now, hit Contacts again and then select Spider-Foot, this time go to the "http://jailbreakme.com" URL and now Safari will open and it will bring you to the jailbreak website, scroll to the bottom and click on "Install AppSnapp".
Safari will now close and your iPhone will go back to the Activation Screen, don't worry it is normal. Just wait for 2-3 mins, the program is downloading and install into you iPhone, and your iPhone will power off and power on again. During this, you can confirm it is running by slide to make an emergency call, dial the number 0, and then CALL, the iPhone will ring itself, tap answer, then hold, then Decline just like before, and you should see the following screen:
Once you get to the activation screen, slide to get to the dial pad again and when you do this your iPhone will restart by itself and thats it, your iPhone now Activated and JailBroken.
Step 4 : Upgrade to Firmware 1.1.2 & Activate and Jailbreak On your iPhone screen, click on Installer icon (Blue Icon usually the last one). The Donate message may jump up, just click Donate Later is OK.
Wait for a moment to let it start, then click "Install" (at bottom, 2nd option), scroll down to select "Tweaks (1.1.1)" category,
find OktoPrep, select it and then Install it (button at top right corner),
Once finished installation, it will give you a message on your iPhone as below, simply press OK.
and then press the MENU button and it will take you back to the Slide to Unlock. Now open your iTunes on your PC or MAC and press on the name of your iPhone in the left column, this will take you to the page with UPDATE or RESTORE buttons.
This time you MUST choose UPDATE, if you choose Restore, you will clear out all the things just installed and you have to start it over again. Before you click the UPDATE button : you need to press SHIFT button in your keyboard (OPTIONS button in MAC) and HOLD it, then click the UPDATE button Now a "Browse your files" window will open up:
go and choose the firmware 1.1.2 file that you have downloaded in Step 1 and press open.
It takes around 5 mins. When the update is finished you will get a picture of a plug that will appear on your iPhone. Then close your iTunes and same as before, open up your unzipped 1.1.2 Jailbreak directory, RUN the below program: - Window user : double click the "window.bat"
file The following screen will bring:
This time choose the option of "Jailbreak". Your iPhone will turn to complete dark, don't border it.
This will take around 5 mins and at the end you will get a message that says "Your Phone will reboot a couple of times ...... "
Let your iPhone REBOOT a couple of time... , the Slide to Emergency or Slide ot Unlock screen will appear a couple of time also, don't bother it. When it finished, it will have the following message,
and your iPhone will get back to the SLIDE to UNLOCK page finally. In your iTunes you may see below aslo, just dismiss the message.
Now take out your "Prepared Next Sim" (i.e. with your OWN sim card attached already) and ready to install it into your iPhone.
Congratulation
! Now you have an activated and jailbroken Unlocked OOB 1.1.2 iPhone! Install iWorld Try the phone function now, select the keypad, if you find that once you dial up, it jump back to the icon menu, don't worry, it just a matter of customerize only. Please follow the below step to install the iWorld. In the Icon menu, find and click on Installer icon (Blue Icon remember), wait for a moment to let it start, then click "Install" (at bottom, 2nd option), scroll down to select "Tweaks (1.1.2)" category, select "iWorld" and install it. After it finished, press the MENU button, it will bring you back to slide to unlock, silde to unlock, then in the icon menu, find the "iWorld" icon that you just installed, click on it, and select the country where you located. That is! Your iPhone will reboot and when power on again, the dial up problem will be solved. |
